Help your child heal through imagination
When children and young people are struggling with emotional difficulties, they may find it hard to express themselves through words. Play therapy enables young people to explore their feelings through play to make sense of their world.
Therapy can help young people with:
- A change in family dynamics. E.g. Divorce, new parents
- Experiencing or witnessing physical, emotional or sexual abuse
- Death or loss of a loved one
- Physical/Terminal illness or Trauma
In addition, if you notice any of the following, it may be an indication that they need help:
- Do they seem overly angry or have aggressive behaviour?
- Does your child seem sad or fearful for no reason?
- Is your child overly anxious when you are separated?
- Is your child’s shyness causing a problem?
- Is your child displaying behaviours that they had grown out of? Such as sucking their thumb or talking in ‘baby talk’?
- Does your child seem to have low self-esteem?
- Does your child have problems sleeping, eating or eliminating waste?
- Do you see a pre-occupation with sexual behaviour?
- Does your child complain of physical symptoms such as headaches or stomach aches that don’t seem to have any connection to their physical health?
I am a mobile counsellor, who can work in the comfort of your own home, or a safe location agreed by both parties should the person be older.
I work with children and adolescents from ages 5 – 18 (and older). Young adults from 16 + may be able to refer themselves and considered for therapy without parental permission. They will be assessed as to whether they are Gillick Competent.
